Happy Anniversary To Us!
Today is Tori and I’s 2 year anniversary. It’s insane putting that number down, because it feels like we’ve been together much longer (in a good way). Everything just felt like home together.
I met her daughter Ava a couple months in, we moved in together shortly after that. Everybody thought we were crazy. That’s why Josh Gracin’s hit “We Weren’t Crazy” was a top five song for me on my Spotify wrapped!
I knew pretty quickly that this was the woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. We laugh together so much. I’ve never felt more comfortable being exactly myself. She made me want to become a better man. I’ve since quit drinking and smoking, and now we are engaged and we are parents to the cutest four month old little baby boy.
Just the other day, I asked what we were gonna do for our anniversary, and realized we are already that boring couple who would rather just stay home and have another regular day for our big milestone.
I want to make a spectacle of our love every single day, but we both know that what we love more than anything is our night time routine.

The baby has his bath, mama hops in the shower, daddy gets snacks and fills the water bottles, then while the little man winds down, we scroll through our social media clips we’ve shared throughout the day. Big sister Ava comes to say goodnight and we goof around chatting before it’s time to close our eyes. That’s the greatest gift we could ever receive.
I love being a family man, and my family means the world to me. All I want to do is give them everything they could ever want, and I intend to be successful at that.
My father worked a lot when I was growing up. I used to say if a month had 30 days in it, my Dad worked 31. I harboured a lot resentment toward him that I know was unfair, but through my adolescent eyes, I thought he didn’t care.
Of course now I know why he was always working. He wanted to give his family everything they wanted. Now I’m trying to do the same. I just have to find the perfect balance between time spent and sacrifice. I’ll find it, and when I do, you can bet I will let you all know!
IT’S TV TIME WITH TRIN
To be completely honest, I have barely listened to music since the last weekly column. I despise Christmas music so I avoided the radio during the holidays. So instead of recommending music, I will let you know what I’ve been watching lately.
While the Potratz household has been looking for ways to save money, we have cut down on our streaming services. With that being said, we are being strategic in which ones we have and at what time.
Apple TV is home to one of the best dramatic comedies I have ever seen with Shrinking. Starring Jason Segel, Harrison Ford and Jessica Williams, Shrinking’s first two seasons play with your funny bone and heart strings all at the same time. Michael Urie‘s Brian, Christa Miller‘s Liz and Ted McGinley‘s Derek are scene stealers. Season one deals with grief, while season two deals with moving on. Season three premiers on January 28!
One of the reasons we bundled Disney + with Crave is because we are HUGE The Pitt fans! I recently got to watch the first season after Tori already watched it, and it is amazing. Growing up with women I did watch Grey’s Anatomy but this makes Grey’s irrelevant. The Pitt won the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series last year and it may be a contender for many years to come. Known for it’s medical accuracy and impeccable casting, check out The Pitt season two debuting tomorrow!!!

And I would be lying if I didn’t also check out the TV Show that everybody is talking about on Crave; Heated Rivalry. I’m obviously a hockey guy, so I have heard all about this show on many hockey podcasts. Empty Netters fully embraced this show so I decided to give it a try. Yes, you’re going to see some very risque gay sex scenes, but you’re also going to see a great love story. The kid who plays Russian superstar Ilya Rozanov, Connor Storrie is going to be an absolute star in Hollywood. Created by Jacob Tierney of Letterkenny fame, it’s so awesome to see a Canadian show become the talk of the town! Easy to binge with only six episodes, you can crush this show in a single day. Just make sure the kids are busy when watching lol.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I am very excited for a couple of the articles coming out soon! There is no shortage of inspiration in my life these days, sometimes these articles just write themselves.
The three articles upcoming have to do with dealing with rejection, affirmations and thrifting!!! I think the affirmations article might be my personal favourite.
