“I said Judd I don’t know how to play guitar. Without missing a beat he said ‘you’ll figure it out. You’re living your dream, you’ll figure it out.’ …and ever since then, I really do think you’ll figure it out. ” -Jason Segel

How many times have you been at your wits end? How many times have you felt like there was no life at the end of the tunnel? At a loss?

It’s a feeling all too regular in our world. Trust me, I have been there and back again more times than I can count, and that is not a hyperbole.

It’s kinda funny, because I have always felt a source of calm at times when it feels like there will be no resolution for whatever is ailing me with worry.

My life has been a whirlwind the past couple of weeks. I’ve went from complete bliss to complete panic. I’ve been concerned and I’ve been confident. I’ve felt helpless and felt powerful.

It wasn’t until Sunday afternoon that I found my material for this article. I was tired and had worked myself to the bone. I’ve had some conflict with somebody I love, and I lost somebody who was a true mentor to me. I have a family trip upcoming, and I needed to make a lot of extra money.

Through every moment of experience, I sit here today with an overwhelming calm. I’ll figure it out.

I was watching Jason Segel on the TV show Hot Ones, and he told a story about how early in his career he received a script that called for his character to play guitar. He didn’t know how to play guitar. He had four days to figure it out. Long story short; he did.

It’s crazy how much that sparked something in me. I have been in that situation a million times. Before I started working on a fence line, I had barely any experience wood working. I just went in confident. Now I am quite competent in not only building fences, but my house is equipped with two items I built with my own two hands; my kitchen table, and my tv stand/entertainment unit.

I remember hearing the story about how John Rich (of Big & Rich fame) became a member of the band Lonestar. He had met his future bandmates at an establishment and they mentioned they had a record deal and were looking for a Bass Player. Rich said he could be their Bassist, even though he had no experience playing the Bass (Slappin Da Bass Man!!!). It was his career, so he figured it out.

Jen Sincero of You Are A Bad Ass fame, is adamant on the principle that everything will simply work out if you believe. Her New York Times Best Seller tells many stories of situations just coming to be.

“The best things in life are on the other side of fear” -George Addair

We tend to bring into the world what we focus in when dealing with faith and fear. Similar to the metaphorical wolf we’ve discussed before, whatever choice you feed is the one you’ll notice more.

When we continue to speak into the world the things we’re scared of, we are giving power to those external issues. So, if we instead put our power into our faith that everything will work out, we are fuelling the good in our lives to come into fruition.

When I started this blog, I was ready to give up on playing music. Seriously. I was ready to trade in my guitar and go all-in to my day job, focusing on rising up the company ladder to provide for my family.

I was stressed out financially, and I had tricked my mind into thinking I wasn’t passionate about music anymore. After some soul-searching, I let go of my fears and battled with my imposter syndrome.

When my fiancee is stressed, I somehow always know the right thing to say. I truly believe it is because I unfathomably believe in my mantra; I can do this. I can do this.

Whatever it is. Whenever it needs to be done. I can do it. I will do it. It’s already mine. The tree is already bearing fruit.

And guess what??? It just took me taking action with what I can control to attract more opportunities into my life. The only thing I can control is my work performance and my on stage performance, so that’s all I worried about.

Now my passion for playing live music is back. I have more than three separate musical acts I am a part of now that will be bringing money to my bank account.

It’s not snake oil baby. This shit works!

Nobody is gonna save you, but you have everything you need to achieve and complete anything you set your mind to!
